Mwananchi Communications Limited is seeking a motivated and highly experienced individual to fill the position of Freelancer Business Executive.

Purpose Of The Position

The Freelancer Business Executive will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and increasing a dependable client base, selling advertising space, and providing effective service to clients in order to maximize advertising sales volumes and achieve revenue targets.

Main Responsibilities

• Thoroughly familiarize yourself with comparative readership, circulation, advertising rates, and costs across MCL’s platforms, including Print, Digital, Events, and Electronic Media such as E-paper.
• Identify potential advertising clients, study their business models and customer base, and effectively communicate the value and benefits of advertising through Mwananchi Communications Limited platforms, including newspapers, websites, social media, and events.
• Execute sales by obtaining clear client requirements, including advertisement size, placement dates, and pricing.
• Ensure all advertising orders are confirmed through signed authorization from the client representative.
• Assist clients in developing their advertising copy and coordinate with the Graphic Design team to ensure high-quality artwork and effective presentation.
• Book clients’ advertisements into the system and ensure that all necessary documentation, including signed order forms, artwork, and client approvals, is attached.
• Obtain all required internal approvals to support advertising bookings and ensure smooth processing and timely publication.
• Prepare and submit daily call plans (itineraries) and sales activity reports through email or physical meetings.
• Review call plans and sales activity reports with the Classified Business Manager and escalate any challenges for timely resolution and support.
• Follow up on the collection of payments for all completed sales and ensure timely follow-up with clients to settle outstanding invoices in line with company credit terms.
• Share weekly collection reports detailing amounts collected per client and outstanding balances with the line manager or finance liaison.
• Maintain accurate records of all client interactions, sales pipeline status, and payment follow-ups to ensure transparency and accountability in all transactions.

Minimum Qualifications And Experience

Academic Qualification

• Basic university degree in Business Studies or a related field.

Experience

• 2–3 years of working experience.
