Don Bosco Technical Training College (DBTTC) in Dodoma is seeking an experienced electrical professional to join its Mechatronics Engineering Department as an Electrical Installation Teacher. The position supports a two-year employer-led Dual Apprenticeship Programme, combining classroom instruction with practical workshop training to prepare young people for careers in the electrical trade.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct electrical training in both classroom and workshop environments using practical scenarios, simulations, visual aids, and instructional technology.
• Develop learning assignments covering the two-year electrical curriculum and work with industry experts to keep training aligned with current industry standards.
• Ensure Electrical Installation courses comply with curricula recognized by NACTVET and VETA.
• Follow approved teaching timetables and ensure all classroom and practical sessions are conducted as scheduled.
• Prepare, conduct, and grade Continuous Assessments, formative assessments, and final examinations.
• Submit assessment marks and prepare individual apprentice assessment reports each semester.
• Supervise apprentices’ practical projects and provide constructive feedback.
• Coordinate with company mentors to ensure apprentice logbooks are properly maintained.
• Liaise with partner companies and relevant stakeholders regarding apprenticeship activities.
• Work with the Training Coordinator and NACTVET/VETA to maintain professional assessment standards.
• Participate in departmental Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) meetings.
• Manage training materials and equipment required for practical sessions and submit timely requisitions.
• Maintain electrical equipment and workshop facilities and keep accurate stock and inventory records.
• Enforce workshop discipline and electrical safety procedures.
• Ensure apprentices use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Maintain workshop order and proper waste-separation practices.
• Support budgeting and resource management for training and workshop operations.
• Mentor apprentices through professional advice, career guidance, discipline, and moral/value formation.
• Support institutional events and final examination arrangements.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Lead Trainer, Head of Department, or College Principal.
• Keep up to date with developments in electrical technology and teaching methodology through engagement with industry experts.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of proven hands-on industry experience in the electrical trade.
• Experience in electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Experience working with electrical systems and technologies in industrial, commercial, or residential environments.
• A recognized certificate in technical education teaching methodology is an added advantage.
• Previous experience in a dual-training TVET environment is an advantage.
• Successful candidates without formal pedagogy qualifications will receive pedagogy training.
