Job Summary

Perseus Mining (Tanzania) Limited is seeking a Process Plant Operator to support the safe, efficient and effective operation of the process plant.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out daily plant operations, monitoring assigned processing circuits, performing operational checks and housekeeping, maintaining operational records, and promptly reporting plant performance and safety issues to Process Supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

Safety, Environment and Community Relations

• Comply with company policies and procedures relating to safety, environment, health and community relations.
• Attend all relevant safety toolbox meetings and operational information sessions.
• Participate in shift handovers and ensure relevant information is communicated effectively.
• Perform Take 5 / FLRA (Field Level Risk Assessment) activities as required.
• Maintain a strong safety culture while performing plant operations.

Plant Operations

• Conduct day-to-day activities to ensure effective operation of the process plant.
• Provide timely feedback to Process Supervisors regarding the performance of assigned plant sections.
• Report any safety issues or operational concerns encountered during the shift.
• Perform operational checks relevant to the assigned processing circuit.
• Work in various plant areas, including:
  • Crusher
  • Milling
  • Carbon-in-Leach (CIL)
  • Elution
  • Detox
• Carry out housekeeping duties within assigned circuits.
• Properly care for and maintain tools, operating equipment and materials.
• Ensure proper care, use and storage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Complete operational logs, reports, pre-start checks and handover notes accurately and on time.
• Maintain good attendance and comply with shift schedules.
• Work towards maintaining required shift KPIs.
• Maintain the company’s Code of Conduct.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in gold processing plant operations.
• Form Four (Form 4) Original Certificate or higher level of education.
• Valid Tanzanian Driving Licence.

Desirable Qualifications

• Equipment or machine operating certificate from a recognized training institution.
• Certificate of training completion in process plant circuits.

Skills and Competencies

The ideal candidate should have:

• Practical experience in gold processing plant operations.
• Good understanding of process plant operations and assigned circuits.
• Ability to identify and report operational and safety issues.
• Good housekeeping and equipment-care practices.
• Ability to maintain accurate operational records and reports.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a shift-based team.
• Willingness to undertake additional external training to strengthen operational skills.

Additional Requirements

• The successful candidate should be willing to undertake external training where necessary.
• The position may occasionally require working outside normal working hours.
• The employee may be required to travel on company business from time to time.
