Secondary Education for Girls Advancement (SEGA) is a non-profit organization located in the Mkundi area of Morogoro Municipality. SEGA’s mission is to educate and equip bright Tanzanian girls with academic, leadership, and business skills to unlock their potential, with a particular focus on vulnerable girls.

  • Msichana wa Kisasa Community Outreach Program

SEGA Girls’ Secondary School provides quality, holistic education to Form I – IV students, over 50% of whom receive full scholarships. 1. 🔬 Position: Physics and Chemistry Teacher (1 Post)

 

Position Summary

 

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Physics and Chemistry Teacher to join our dedicated academic team.

Job Description

 

The overall role of a Teacher at SEGA Girls Secondary School is to provide quality, participatory education opportunities that build both academic competence and practical skills, assisting students in becoming self-reliant upon graduation.

Other Responsibilities:

 

R1. Lessons Preparation/Planning and Materials Development

  • Develop creative, participatory, and integrated learning opportunities as per the Tanzanian national curriculum, and SEGA’s vision.

  • Develop a scheme of work and lesson plans for Secondary students.

  • Conduct detailed planning of classes that actively involve students and engage them in higher-level thinking.

  • Vary teaching methods to stimulate students, such as the use of IT, video, small group discussion, and hands-on learning.

R2. Teaching

  • Teach classes to Secondary students as per the schedule, ensuring punctual attendance.

  • Regularly assess students against expected competencies, ensuring students are on track, and prepare, administer, and mark tests and exams as required.

  • Develop solutions for struggling students (e.g., extra tuition, counseling) and provide advanced content for fast learners.

R3. Supports Individual Student Development

  • Assists each advisee student in developing her own personalized set of goals (academic, social, career) and action plan.

  • Manages pupil behavior and instills discipline in all students while creating a safe environment for vulnerable girls.

  • Alerts and keeps the Headmistress informed of all students’ progress.

  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Head of the school.

R4. Coordinates Sports, Clubs, and/or Other Extra-Curricular Activities

  • Helps engage students outside of class in essay competitions, subject clubs, debate programs, or other activities as assigned.

  • Takes initiative and uses creativity to assist in the development of such programs.

Requirements

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or Diploma in Teaching with Physics and Chemistry as teaching subjects.

  • Experience: Minimum of Four (4) years of teaching experience.

  • Skills: Excellent spoken and written Swahili and English; strong classroom management and communication skills; ability to work well independently.

  • Other: Willing to live and work in Morogoro and commute to school each day.


2. 🧪 Position: Laboratory Technician (1 Post)

Job Summary

SEGA Girls’ Secondary School is seeking a dedicated and skilled Laboratory Technician to support the school’s science department. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth operation of laboratory activities and assist teachers and students in practical lessons.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Prepare and organize laboratory equipment and materials for experiments.

  • Assist science teachers during practical sessions.

  • Maintain cleanliness, order, and safety in the laboratory.

  • Conduct regular maintenance and inventory of laboratory tools, chemicals, and apparatus.

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.

  • Provide technical support in setting up and conducting science projects or exhibitions.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a school or educational institution laboratory.

  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of laboratory safety standards and procedures.

  • Skills: Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent spoken and written Swahili and English.


3. ➕ Position: Physics and Mathematics Teacher (1 Post)

 

Position Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Physics and Mathematics Teacher to join our dedicated academic team.

Job Description

 

The Major Function and Other Responsibilities (R1 to R4) are identical to those listed above for the Physics and Chemistry Teacher.

Requirements

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or Diploma in Teaching with Physics and Mathematics as teaching subjects.

  • Experience: Minimum of Four (4) years of teaching experience.

  • Skills: Excellent spoken and written Swahili and English; strong classroom management and communication skills; ability to work well independently.

  • Other: Willing to live and work in Morogoro and commute to school each day.
