About the Role

Mogo Credit Tanzania is seeking a Soft Collection Officer to manage early-stage loan collections by contacting customers with overdue payments, providing repayment reminders, negotiating payment commitments, and maintaining positive customer relationships.

The successful candidate will help improve repayment rates, monitor collection performance, and ensure that all collection activities follow the company’s standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Key Responsibilities

A. Soft Collection Activities

• Conduct daily outbound calls to remind customers with overdue accounts of 1–27 days past due (DPD).

• Provide friendly repayment reminders and inform customers about outstanding amounts, due dates, and available payment channels.

• Negotiate realistic payment commitments based on customers’ affordability and repayment history.

• Escalate non-responsive or uncooperative customers to the field collection or hard collection teams in accordance with established SOPs.

B. Customer Service and Support

• Maintain positive, professional, and respectful communication with customers at all times.

• Identify reasons for missed payments and assist customers by explaining payment options, available channels, or rescheduling procedures.

• Educate customers about the consequences of continued non-payment, including penalties, repossession, and negative credit listing.

C. Portfolio Management and Reporting

• Accurately record all customer interactions and promises to pay (PTPs) in the collection system.

• Track broken promises to pay and follow up accordingly.

• Meet daily and weekly targets for call volumes, contact rates, promise-to-pay rates, and recovery amounts.

• Report suspicious cases or potential fraud to the supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Experience in a call centre or credit collections is an added advantage.

• Experience in financial services or asset financing, particularly boda boda, tuk-tuk, and electronics financing, is preferred.

• Strong communication and negotiation skills.

• Customer-friendly approach and professional communication.

• Basic understanding of loan terms and repayment processes.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet daily targets.

• Computer literacy, including familiarity with CRM or collection systems and Microsoft Excel.
