About the Role & Company

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Operations

• Report directly to the HME Foreman and provide leadership, systems, and strategies that deliver maintenance best practices for mining equipment.
• Support high equipment availability to deliver safe, profitable gold production while facilitating training and upskilling of the workforce.
• Provide appropriate on-the-job training and coaching to team members.
• Coordinate engineering functions and operations, including mobile fleet management, maintenance, and skills transfer.
• Perform shift handover processes and plan future work requirements with the supervisor.

2. Equipment Maintenance & Repairs

• Carry out mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, fault-finding, and corrective maintenance on Plant & Mobile Equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform component removal, replacement, upgrades, and equipment modifications as required.
• Report defects and breakdowns to the supervisor on a shift-by-shift basis and provide optimal maintenance solutions.
• Follow up on outstanding maintenance and repairs, and provide accurate, timely feedback on equipment functionality.

3. Safety & Compliance

• Follow all maintenance procedures and ensure mechanical activities comply with standards without causing damage to components, systems, or equipment.
• Ensure proper equipment isolation, adhere to working at height and confined space standards, and conduct thorough pre-start inspections.
• Carry out PM inspections, ensure preventive maintenance compliance, and conduct statutory testing/inspections on all relevant systems.
• Identify critical spare parts requirements and place orders according to company procedures.

Qualification & Skill Requirements

Educational & Technical Qualifications

• Trade Certificate: Relevant Trade Certificate in Diesel Mechanics or Fitting.
• License: Valid Driver’s License.

Experience & Expertise

• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience as a Diesel Mechanic / Fitter.
• Equipment Knowledge:
  • Sandvik U/G Development & Production Drills: DD321, DD421, DD422i, DL210, DL321, DL331, DU311, and DS421.
  • Loaders: LH307, LH410, LH514, and LH621i.
  • Trucks: TH545i and TH663i.
  • Auxiliary Equipment: Normet Charmec MC605, Spraymec SF050, Maclean Charmec EC2, Boom Truck BT3, Agi Truck TM2, Volvo L90H, and L120H.
