About Doctors with Africa CUAMM

Doctors with Africa CUAMM is an international non-governmental organization that has been working in Tanzania for over 50 years to strengthen the health system and protect and improve the health and well-being of vulnerable communities.

The organization has extensive experience implementing healthcare projects, addressing both the demand side of healthcare, including community engagement, referral systems and antenatal care, and the delivery of health services through improved quality of care in health centres and hospitals.

CUAMM focuses on designing and implementing health system-strengthening projects, with particular attention to the needs of women and children and the specific contexts in which it operates.

Through its evidence-based approach, CUAMM works to remove barriers that prevent communities from accessing healthcare services and improve the quality of care to ensure accessible, high-quality and equitable healthcare for all.

In Tosamaganga, Tanzania, Doctors with Africa CUAMM supports the regional referral hospital, focusing on key healthcare activities, particularly maternal and child health. These include maternity services management, skilled delivery care (including caesarean sections and obstetric emergencies), newborn care, and support for Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) for premature and low-birth-weight infants.
