About the Role

TEF Consult, on behalf of our reputable telecommunications client, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Stock and Cash Reconciliation Officer. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate daily reconciliation of cash and stock transactions across retail shops, agents, and warehouses. The successful candidate will support operational efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and maintain compliance with company policies.

This position plays a crucial role in enhancing transparency, improving financial accuracy, and supporting outstanding customer experience within retail operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cash Reconciliation

Reconcile daily cash collections against system records (sales, deposits, orders).
Verify all cash received from shops, agents, and partners is submitted accurately and on time.
Identify any variances and follow up with responsible teams for resolution.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cash reconciliation reports.
Monitor compliance with all cash-handling procedures.

2. Stock Reconciliation

Reconcile physical stock movement with system entries (issues, returns, transfers, adjustments).
Verify accuracy of stock issuance from shops, warehouses, and field agents.
Investigate any stock discrepancies, shortages, or delays in system posting.
Track stock allocated to partners, ensuring proper documentation and timely updates.

3. Compliance & Internal Controls

Ensure adherence to company policies, processes, and audit standards for all stock and cash transactions.
Report irregularities, risks, or recurring issues to management promptly.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and reports.

4. Reporting & Documentation

Prepare reconciliation summaries for presentation to Finance and Operations teams.
Maintain complete, accurate documentation for all reconciliations and adjustments.
Provide trend analysis and propose preventive or corrective measures.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Liaise with shop agents, regional teams, finance, and warehouse departments to resolve discrepancies.
Guide retail staff on proper procedures for cash and stock posting.
Participate in training and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen compliance.
Perform additional tasks assigned by the Team Leader or Manager.

Qualifications & Requirements

Academic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Professional Experience

1 to 3 years of experience in reconciliation, accounting, audit, or financial operations.
Experience in retail, FMCG, or distribution will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced).
Experience with ERP systems or reconciliation software.
Understanding of internal controls and audit standards.
