Role Summary

Position Title: Finance + Administration Assistant

Location: Arusha, Tanzania (Preference for Arusha-based candidates)

Reports to: Operations, Administration, + Finance Manager

Term: Two years (with possibility of extension)

Classification: Full-time
The role provides foundational support for daily financial operations, including transaction recording, payment processing, and documentation. It also assists with human resources (HR) and general office administration to ensure smooth operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Bookkeeping
-
Transaction Processing: Handle daily Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR); prepare payment vouchers, invoices, and expense reimbursements.

Record Maintenance: Update the accounting system with journals (invoices, payroll, petty cash) and maintain systematic electronic and hard-copy filing.

Banking & Cash: Manage petty cash funds, prepare bank deposits, and perform monthly bank reconciliations.

Month-End Support: Assist in the monthly and annual close processes to ensure financial consistency.
Administration & Logistics

Office Support: Provide general administrative help for Finance and HR functions; maintain updated contact lists.

Event Coordination: Organize logistics for meetings, workshops, and project events, including travel arrangements for staff.

Data Management: Compile financial data for reports and budgets; ensure data for analysis is accurate and available.
Compliance & Internal Controls

Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all financial and procurement procedures follow Eden policies and Tanzanian regulations.

Expense Monitoring: Track recurring payments and ensure staff advances are cleared according to policy.

Audits: Help coordinate financial audits and provide necessary documentation.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Experience

Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

Experience: 1–3 years in an accounting or finance support role.

Sector Knowledge: Experience in the nonprofit sector or with donor-funded projects is highly desirable.

Certifications: Professional studies (CPA, CPA(T), ACCA) are preferred.
Technical Skills

Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.

Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and fund accounting.

Knowledge of Tanzanian employment laws and HR best practices.
