Job Vacancy: Information Security Officer

Role Purpose

The Information Security Officer is responsible for ensuring that the bank’s digital files and information systems are protected against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Risk & Vulnerability Management: Perform quarterly cyber security risk assessments to evaluate vulnerabilities and conduct frequent penetration tests on the bank’s security network.

System Administration: Manage the bank’s network, intrusion, detection, and prevention systems.

Incident Analysis: Analyze any security breaches to determine their root cause and recommend appropriate measures.

Monitoring & Fraud Prevention: Conduct daily monitoring of system users to identify abuse or fraudulent use of authorized access.

Revenue Protection: Monitor the bank’s revenue to identify potential leakages and recommend remedial actions.

Audit & Compliance: Maintain the information security risk register and assist with internal and external audits relating to information security.

Training & Awareness: Assist with the creation, maintenance, and delivery of periodic bank-wide cyber security awareness training.

Vendor & Process Management: Coordinate surety plans with vendors and review manual processes to recommend automation.

Strategic Reporting: Keep up to date with new cyber security developments and appraise Bank Management of these developments frequently.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or any ICT-related degree.

Experience: A minimum of 2 relevant years of work experience.

Certifications: Qualifications such as CISSP, CISA, or CISM are added advantages.

Regulatory Knowledge: Sound knowledge of Bank of Tanzania (BoT) Regulations and best banking practices.

Core Skills: Strong communication, business acumen, leadership skills, and the ability to educate a non-technical audience on security issues.
