Position Overview
The Principal Business Development Officer II (Government & Stakeholder Relations) will report to the Zonal Manager and will be responsible for driving zonal business growth, overseeing business operations, and safeguarding the quality of the loan portfolio and financial performance.
The role ensures that zonal initiatives align with the bank’s strategic objectives, project implementation frameworks, and high standards of integrity. The officer will also lead stakeholder engagement within the zone, building and maintaining strategic relationships with:
- Government institutions
- Regulatory authorities
- Private sector actors
- Development partners
The aim is to unlock financing opportunities and strengthen TADB’s institutional presence in the region.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Business Development Management
- Monitor the implementation of policies, procedures, and operational decisions within the zone.
- Provide technical support to development projects and clients.
- Participate in monitoring and evaluation of ongoing and completed projects.
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities within the zone.
- Monitor implementation of loan/credit policies, processes, and procedures.
- Ensure loan and credit applications are reviewed and approved appropriately.
- Control overdrafts related to development project financing.
- Develop and implement zonal work plans for corporate clients and development initiatives.
- Ensure development activities are effectively implemented across the zone.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
2. Strategic Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with:
- Government institutions
- Regulatory bodies
- Ministries
- Develop and operationalize a structured stakeholder engagement framework.
3. Government and Strategic Institutional Partnerships
- Identify and develop strategic interventions in sectors such as:
- Agriculture
- Social development
- Inclusive economic growth
- Facilitate coordination among agricultural value chain actors to enhance:
- Productivity
- Competitiveness
- Financial inclusion
- Oversee the implementation and monitoring of strategic engagement programs in the zone.
4. Public Engagement and Brand Visibility
- Represent the bank in:
- Strategic public engagements
- Conferences
- Industry forums
- Policy roundtables
- Strengthen TADB’s brand visibility and stakeholder confidence in the zone.
- Enhance strategic communication with partners and sector stakeholders.
Core Competencies and Skills
- Experience working with financial institutions, agribusiness projects, or donor-funded programs.
- Strong understanding of agricultural value chains including:
- Crops
- Livestock
- Fisheries
- Knowledge of:
- Risk assessment
- Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems
- Management Information Systems (MIS) tools and dashboards
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills to support investment and credit decisions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
- High level of integrity, adaptability, and commitment to development finance objectives.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Project economics
- Finance and accounting
- Banking operations
- Agricultural development.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
- Economics
- Business Administration
- Agricultural Economics
- Finance
- Accounting
- Or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in:
- Credit management
- Portfolio management
- Business development
- Agricultural development.
Experience working with financial institutions, agribusiness projects, or donor-funded programs will be an added advantage.
