Job Opportunity: SHEQ Coordinator

Northern Engineering Works Limited (NEWL) is seeking a qualified SHEQ Coordinator to join their Operations department. This role is essential for maintaining a culture of safety and excellence by supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) management systems.


Role Overview

  • Job Title: SHEQ Coordinator

  • Reporting Line: HSE Manager

  • Department: Operations

  • Work Type: Full-time

  • Location: Must be ready to work in any part/region within Tanzania

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Documentation: Maintain and update SHEQ related documents, including policies, procedures, risk assessments, and records of incidents, inspections, and audits.

  • Compliance: Monitor compliance with SHEQ policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, conducting regular audits and inspections.

  • Training: Support the development and delivery of site-specific training programs, including Safety Orientations, WHMIS education, toolbox training, and all legal and compliance training.

  • Communication: Act as a resource person in maintaining a safe work environment and ensure the Health & Safety communication board is updated.

  • Safety Logistics: Ensure PPE is available to all employees and visitors and monitor stock levels.

  • Investigation & Reporting: Support accident investigations, gather information for the HSE Manager, and enter data for KPI reports.

  • Professional Development: Keep yourself abreast with the latest laws and regulations through continuous education and required courses.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Management.

  • Certifications: * Certified with NOSHC (National Occupational Safety and Health Course I & II).

    • Certified with Health, Safety & Risk Compliance in the Workplace.

    • ISO Certifications.

  • Experience: At least three (3) years of working experience in Health and Safety.

  • Technical Skills: Good understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively across different departments and levels.
