About the Role
Our client is a well-established Truck Logistics and Fleet Management company operating across East Africa, known for its large workforce, operational complexity, and rapid growth. They are seeking an experienced and technically strong Workshop Manager with proven expertise in maintaining and managing Chinese heavy-duty truck brands. The role is critical in ensuring optimal fleet availability, minimizing vehicle downtime, and delivering cost-effective and high-quality maintenance operations across the workshop.

Duties & Responsibilities

Operations Oversight: Oversee and manage daily workshop operations, including mechanics, technicians, and support staff.

Maintenance & Repair: Supervise preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and servicing of Chinese truck brands and similar models.

Strategic Planning: Develop and implement structured maintenance schedules to minimize breakdowns and extend vehicle lifespan.

Inventory & Budgeting: Monitor and control workshop budgets, spare parts inventory, and overall maintenance costs.

Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, quality, and operational standards within the workshop.

Technical Analysis: Analyze recurring breakdowns and maintenance trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Team Coordination: Coordinate closely with fleet, logistics, and operations teams to maximize truck availability and operational efficiency.

Reporting: Prepare maintenance reports and provide technical insights to management for informed decision-making.
Skills & Requirements

Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing workshops handling Chinese heavy-duty trucks.

Technical Skills: Strong technical expertise in heavy-duty truck systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures.

Leadership: Proven leadership, team management, and workshop coordination skills.

Work Ethic: Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced fleet environment.
