About the Role
Our client is a well-established Truck Logistics and Fleet Management company operating across East Africa, known for its large workforce, operational complexity, and rapid growth. They are seeking a Health and Safety Officer to promote and sustain a strong safety culture across fleet, workshop, and logistics operations. The role focuses on accident prevention, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of workplace and road safety practices.

Duties & Responsibilities

Policy Management: Develop, implement, and regularly review health and safety policies, procedures, and safe working practices.

Inspections: Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across fleet, workshop, and logistics operations.

Investigations: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

Training Programs: Design and deliver health, safety, and road safety training programs for drivers, workshop staff, and operations teams.

Compliance: Ensure full compliance with occupational health, safety, and transport regulations and statutory requirements.

Data Management: Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Culture Building: Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety awareness, compliance, and performance across the organization.

Liaison: Liaise with management and regulatory authorities on safety-related matters when required.
Skills & Requirements

Education: Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years’ relevant experience in HSE roles, preferably within logistics, transport, or fleet operations.

Knowledge: Strong knowledge of workplace health, safety, and road transport safety regulations.

Communication: Excellent reporting, communication, and training facilitation skills.

Leadership: Ability to influence behavior and foster a positive safety culture at all organizational levels.
