About the Role

Our client is a well-established Truck Logistics and Fleet Management company operating across East Africa, known for its large workforce, operational complexity, and rapid growth. They are seeking a highly competent and detail-oriented Accountant to oversee financial control, reporting, and statutory compliance within a fleet and logistics-driven operation. The role plays a critical part in managing operational expenditures such as fuel, vehicle maintenance, repairs, and logistics-related costs, while ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with regulatory standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Financial Record Keeping: Prepare, maintain, and present accurate accounting records and financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards.

  • General Ledger Management: Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.

  • Operational Cost Control: Track, analyze, and control fleet-related operational costs including fuel consumption, maintenance, repairs, and logistics expenses.

  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop budgets, forecasts, and detailed cost analysis reports to support management decision-making.

  • Statutory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with tax regulations, statutory filings, and financial reporting requirements.

  • Audit Support: Support internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules and responding to audit queries in a timely manner.

  • System Implementation: Implement and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and cost management systems to enhance operational efficiency.

Skills & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is mandatory.

  • Experience: Minimum of 4–6 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably within logistics, transport, or related industries.

  • Technical Skills: Strong analytical, reporting, and financial control skills.

  • Personal Attributes: High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
