About the Job

Planning, designing, and managing underground mining operations to ensure safe and efficient extraction of minerals.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Determine appropriate means of safely and efficiently mining deposits.

• Advise on appropriate drilling and blasting methods for underground mining.

• Design shafts, ventilation systems, mine services, and haulage systems.

• Develop computer applications for mine design, modeling, and mapping.

• Supervise the development, operation, and maintenance of mine structures.

• Prepare project estimates, schedules, and reports while coordinating safety programs.

• Supervise technicians, survey personnel, and other engineering staff.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering.

• Experience: 3+ years in underground mining (gold mining preferred).

• Software: Experience with CAD and Mining design software (Deswik or Surpac).

• Skills: Knowledge of mine safety regulations, project management, and budgeting.

• Behavioral: Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
