Tanganyika Blue is pioneering the first commercial Tanzanian Native Species Aquaculture farm on Lake Tanganyika. Our mission is to catalyze a sustainable blue revolution by establishing Native Species Aquaculture practices that support food security, community empowerment, and environmental sustainability in the Lake Tanganyika region. Tanganyika Blue is expanding its operations to Kimbwela, Kigoma and seeks a flexible, organization-oriented Human Resources Officer to join the team.

Job Summary
The Human Resources Officer manages the day-to-day HR activities of the company, ensuring accurate staff records, effective employee administration, and compliance with company policies and labor regulations. The role includes coordination of employee appraisals, attendance tracking, payroll inputs, training records, and health and safety activities. Additionally, the HR Officer supports employee relations, including disciplinary processes and complaints, while working closely with management to ensure smooth workforce operations and employee development.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up the appraisal system, including scheduling interviews to follow up on employees’ progress, goals, and expectations.
- Manage day-to-day HR tasks such as staff attendance, payroll, sick leave records, advances and loan requests, training schedules and records.
- Lead monthly health and safety meetings.
- Maintain familiarity with all company HR policies and procedures.
- Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, complaints, terminations, and investigations in accordance with company policy.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and recommend best practices.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the HR department.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the manager/director.
Skills and Experience Requirements
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office.
- Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with awareness for optimizing workflows.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English and Kiswahili, both spoken and written.
- Awareness of safety and traceability in the work environment and facilities.
- Self-driven with the capacity to make well-informed decisions.
- Analytical abilities with attention to detail, especially in evaluating systems and processes.
