Project Overview
The Reaching Impact, Saturation and Epidemic Control (RISE) Project is funded by the U.S. Department of State (DoS) to support malaria prevention, diagnosis, treatment, surveillance, and monitoring and evaluation activities across Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
The project is implemented in close collaboration with:
- National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP)
- Zanzibar Malaria Elimination Programme (ZAMEP)
- Regional Administration and Local Government (RALG)
RISE strengthens alignment with national malaria strategies, improves service delivery quality, and enhances overall health system performance and resilience.
Implementation Context
The current implementation period (December 2025 – September 2026) requires intensive, time-bound, multi-region field execution, supported by:
- Strong implementation management
- Effective stakeholder coordination
- Consistent follow-through at community, district, and regional levels
Position Title
Community Mobilization & Engagement (CME) Officer
Program: RISE Tanzania Malaria Program
Job Type: Full-time
Position Summary
The Community Mobilization & Engagement (CME) Officer provides field-level support for community engagement and demand-side approaches under the RISE Tanzania Malaria Program.
The role focuses on strengthening community participation in:
- Malaria prevention
- Malaria case management
- Vector control
- Sentinel surveillance
This includes improving access, uptake, and utilization of Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITNs).
Reporting & Supervision
- Direct Supervisor: Field Team Leader
- Technical Oversight: CME Advisor
The CME Officer works closely with field team colleagues and regional and district health promotion teams to plan, implement, monitor, and document community engagement activities aligned with government structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Support planning and implementation of community mobilization and engagement activities
- Strengthen community participation in malaria prevention, case management, and vector control
- Promote improved access, uptake, and proper utilization of ITNs
- Support community-based sentinel surveillance activities
- Collaborate with regional and district health promotion teams
- Monitor, document, and report community engagement activities and results
- Ensure alignment of community engagement interventions with national and local government structures
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Fluency in Kiswahili is required
- Willingness and ability to undertake regular travel within the assigned region and provide periodic support to other project-supported areas, as required
