Position Description
The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is seeking to recruit a qualified Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Operator to join and grow our team.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor daily water treatment plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant performance.
- Perform plant start-up, shutdown, and routine operation of facility equipment.
- Identify operational problems and promptly report issues to the supervisor.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental rules, standards, and programs.
- Recommend and contribute to continuous plant improvement initiatives.
- Conduct regular site inspections and operational audits.
- Observe gauges, dials, switches, alarms, and other indicators to ensure equipment is operating correctly.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free working environment.
- Monitor flows, feed processes, and water quality within the treatment circuit.
- Report all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) incidents, hazards, or concerns to the supervisor.
- Ensure plant operations remain within acceptable operating limits and immediately report deviations.
- Maintain day-to-day operations to achieve required effluent water quality standards for discharge.
- Proactively identify and address plant performance deviations.
- Perform Clean-in-Place (CIP) procedures on advanced process units within the water treatment plant.
- Monitor plant performance and ensure accurate completion of operational log sheets.
- Conduct routine and specialized chemical, physical, and related testing on water system samples.
- Collect periodic representative grab and composite samples from TSF influent, process streams, potable water, and final effluent.
Qualification Requirements
- Diploma in Water Resources Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Processing, or equivalent qualification
- Valid Tanzanian Driver’s License
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Completion of extensive on-the-job training
- Understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
- Awareness of Mines Health and Safety Act requirements
Experience and Competencies
- 2–3 years’ experience operating Reverse Osmosis (RO), Ultrafiltration (UF), Microfiltration (MF), Nanofiltration (NF), and Ion Exchange (IX) systems (added advantage)
- 1–2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- 2–3 years’ experience in water treatment and/or mineral processing plant operations
- 2–3 years’ experience in process plant operations
- Computer application proficiency
- Experience in reagent mixing and utilization
- SCADA system operation skills
