SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania is a local non-governmental organization affiliated with SOS Children’s Villages International, a worldwide childcare and child protection organization with over 60 years of experience operating in 135 countries. SOS Children’s Villages provides family-like care for orphaned and vulnerable children and supports families through Family Strengthening Programmes.
SOS Children’s Villages has been operating in Tanzania since 1991, with programmes currently implemented in Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Iringa, Dodoma, and Mtwara.
1. Head of Programmes
Duty Station: National Office – Dar es Salaam
Reporting to: National Director
Job Summary
The Head of Programmes provides strategic leadership, technical direction, and oversight to ensure high-quality, relevant, impactful, and sustainable programmes aligned with the SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania mission and the 2024–2028 Strategic Plan.
Major Responsibilities
- Lead design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all programmes.
- Drive transition from residential care to family- and community-based care models.
- Translate strategy into operational plans, results frameworks, and budgets.
- Ensure programmes are evidence-based, child-centred, gender-responsive, and safeguarding-focused.
- Strengthen Results-Based Management (RBM) and MEAL systems.
- Lead care reform initiatives including reintegration and alternative care systems.
- Build strategic partnerships with government, donors, CSOs, INGOs, UN agencies, and academia.
- Support consortium-building, joint proposals, and donor engagement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Youth Development, or related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
- Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in child protection, family strengthening, and social development programmes.
- Strong leadership, donor-funded programme management, and MEAL experience.
- Fluency in English and Swahili.
2. Head of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)
Duty Station: National Office – Dar es Salaam
Reporting to: National Director
Job Summary
Provides strategic leadership and oversight of MEAL systems to ensure evidence-based decision-making, accountability, learning, and high-quality programme reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead robust MEAL frameworks aligned with SOS Federation standards.
- Oversee programme monitoring, performance reviews, KPIs, and reporting.
- Strengthen accountability, safeguarding, feedback, and learning mechanisms.
- Lead research, documentation, knowledge products, and learning culture.
- Ensure donor compliance, data protection, and GDPR alignment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in M&E, Social Sciences, Statistics, Public Health, or related field.
- Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in MEAL, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Strong analytical, data visualization, and communication skills.
- Fluency in English and Swahili.
3. Senior Family Strengthening Coordinator
Duty Station: Dar es Salaam
Reporting to: Head of Programmes
Job Summary
Leads planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the National Family Strengthening Programme in line with organizational strategies and standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or Community Development (Master’s degree added advantage).
- 5–7 years’ experience in social programmes, including 3 years in management.
- Strong knowledge of child rights, family strengthening, and gender-responsive programming.
4. National Advocacy Coordinator
Duty Station: National Office – Dar es Salaam
Reporting to: National Director
Job Summary
Coordinates and implements national advocacy strategies promoting child rights and justice, focusing on children without or at risk of losing parental care.
Key Requirements
- Strong experience in policy analysis, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to lead evidence-based advocacy and media engagement.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
5. Family Strengthening and Community Coordinator
Duty Station: Mwanza
Reporting to: Program Manager
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Social Work, or related field.
- 4–6 years’ experience in community development or OVC programmes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and programme management skills.
6. Logistics and Administration Officer
Duty Station: Mwanza
Reporting to: Program Manager
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Procurement, or related field.
- At least 2 years’ experience in logistics and administration, preferably in an NGO.
- Strong organizational, procurement, and asset management skills.
7. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Duty Station: Mwanza
Reporting to: Program Manager
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Economics, Development Studies, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ M&E experience in NGOs.
- Strong data analysis, reporting, and MS Excel skills.
8. Human Resources Officer (2 Posts)
Duty Station: National Office
Reporting to: Head of HR/OD & Administration
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
- Strong confidentiality, recruitment, payroll, and HR administration experience.
- Excellent communication and computer literacy.
9. Fundraising Coordinator
Duty Station: Zanzibar
Reporting to: Deputy National Director
Qualifications and Experience
- MBA or degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in fundraising and donor relations.
- Strong proposal development and stakeholder engagement skills.
10. Education and Health Programme Officer (2 Posts)
Duty Stations: Pwani (1), Dar es Salaam (1)
Reporting to: Family Strengthening and Community Coordinator
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Education, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in education and health programmes.
- Strong community engagement and reporting skills.
