As we expand, we are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Fundraising and Partnerships Associate to lead fundraising efforts and cultivate strategic partnerships to support our mission.


Role Summary

The Fundraising and Partnerships Associate will support the CEO in executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to ensure Silverleaf Academy’s financial sustainability. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage donor relationships, implement fundraising systems, and create structures to support philanthropic, corporate, and development funding.


Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy and Execution

  • Support the Development Director with a CEO-crafted comprehensive fundraising plan targeting foundations, high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), impact investors, and corporate donors.
  • Implement end-to-end fundraising support systems.
  • Identify, research, and engage new funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and donor networks.
  • Draft compelling grant proposals, fundraising campaigns, and donor engagement strategies.
  • Create reusable proposal templates for future applications.

Conference Support

  • Research and outreach for relevant conferences.
  • Prepare conference materials and support CEO attendance.
  • Follow up post-conference to maximize opportunities.

Donor Engagement and Relationship Management

  • Manage donor records and fundraising progress using CRM software.
  • Ensure timely donor engagement, reporting, and stewardship.
  • Organize fundraising events, donor briefings, and networking activities.
  • Prepare fundraising reports and updates for board and executive leadership.

Strategic Partnerships and Grants

  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships with international development agencies, corporate partners, and foundations.
  • Represent Silverleaf at relevant conferences, networking events, and donor meetings.
  • Draft initial versions of all grant applications.

Grant Management and Compliance

  • Manage full grant lifecycle: research, application, reporting, and compliance.
  • Coordinate with finance and program teams to track fund utilization and measure impact.
  • Develop high-quality impact reports and presentations for donors and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, International Development, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience through internships or jobs at a nonprofit organization.
  • Strong project and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to create and manage multi-stream work plans and CEO schedules.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Preferable experience in grant writing, proposal development, and donor landscape knowledge (HNWIs, foundations, CSR initiatives, international development agencies).
  • Strong negotiation, networking, and relationship management skills.
  • Passion for education and social impact aligned with Silverleaf’s mission.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in East Africa or with education-focused organizations.
  • Exposure to social entrepreneurship, impact investing, or startup financing.
  • Familiarity with fundraising software and CRM systems.
  • Fluency in Kiswahili is an added advantage.
