Job Purpose

To drive retail and merchant sales objectives of the bank through proactive customer and merchant acquisition. This includes selling bank accounts, merchant acquiring solutions (QR codes and POS devices), and salaried workers’ loans, while deepening customer relationships and maintaining operational excellence in line with bank service standards.

Locations

Dar es Salaam Zone, Highlands Zone, Southern Zone, Central Zone, Western Zone, Northern Zone, Lake Zone & Zanzibar Cluster.

Main Responsibilities

• Acquisition: Acquire new individual customers and merchants through appointments, referrals, and door-to-door canvassing.

• Account Management: Open bank accounts and ensure collection/submission of account opening fees.

• Merchant Services: Onboard merchants onto QR code payment solutions and support Merchant POS devices for SMEs to ensure active transaction volumes.

• Lending: Market and sell salaried workers’ loans, including payroll-linked and parastatal penetration.

• Digital Banking: Register customers on NMB Mkononi and educate them on self-service digital channels.

• Compliance: Ensure all applications meet KYC, credit, and compliance requirements.

• Targets: Meet or exceed weekly, monthly, and annual sales targets.

• Relationship Management: Generate leads, cross-sell bank products, and build repeat business through continuous relationship management.

• Market Intelligence: Provide feedback to management on customer needs and competitor activity.

Knowledge and Skills

• Proven direct sales and field sales capability.

• Knowledge of retail banking, merchant acquiring (QR & POS), and retail lending.

• Ability to sell to individual salaried employees.

• Strong consultative selling and negotiation skills.

• Ability to work outside banking halls and flexibility to work extended hours.

• Proficiency in basic computer applications (Word and Excel).

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Banking, Insurance & Risk Management, Marketing, or related fields.

• Certification: Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance is an added advantage.
