Position Summary

Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit two (2) Fitter Technicians to join its Technical Services team. The role involves mechanical maintenance, fabrication, installation, and repair activities to support underground mining operations while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operate, manage, and maintain Scamont pumps, Warman pumps, mono-pumps, conveyor belts, and rock breakers.
Control pH levels by safely operating the lime dosing system in accordance with site procedures.
Perform mechanical maintenance activities in compliance with shaft maintenance controls, regulations, and safety standards.
Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, engineered drawings, and layouts.
Construct and fabricate structural components from raw materials.
Use welding equipment and multiple metal cutting techniques to fabricate and repair components.
Inspect fabricated components to ensure accuracy and quality standards.
Utilize shears, power saws, cutting torches, and chipper knives as required.
Develop and implement maintenance schedules and conduct system maintenance.
Diagnose mechanical faults and determine root causes of system failures.
Replace damaged or defective components as necessary.
Coordinate with mining construction, operations, electrical, engineering, and ventilation teams.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Technical Services Department.

Qualification Requirements

Ordinary Secondary Education (Form IV)
Valid Driver’s License with defensive driving skills
Basic knowledge of underground paste systems
Mine Rescue and First Aid Certificates will be an added advantage

Experience Requirements

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an underground mining operation
Proven experience in metal cutting, welding, and fabrication techniques

Skills and Knowledge Requirements

Strong understanding of underground mining operations
Excellent safety performance with strong awareness of Mine Health and Safety Act requirements
Hazard identification and risk assessment skills
Ability to read and understand paste line designs, engineered drawings, and equipment layouts
Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
