Position: Retail Relationship Manager

Purpose of the Role

The Retail Relationship Manager is responsible for developing and managing strong relationships with Retail and SME clients. The role focuses on growing deposits, loans, and other retail banking products while delivering exceptional customer service, identifying client financial needs, and driving sustainable business growth. The position works closely with internal teams to ensure tailored solutions and high levels of client satisfaction.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with Retail and SME clients.
  • Understand customer financial needs and provide appropriate, tailored banking solutions.
  • Maintain proactive client engagement to retain customers and identify new business opportunities.

Revenue Generation

  • Drive growth in assets (loans) and liabilities (deposits) within Retail and SME portfolios.
  • Support new client acquisition and cross-selling of banking products and services.

Risk Management

  • Manage and monitor credit risk within Retail and SME portfolios in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure effective KYC compliance, credit assessments, and ongoing portfolio reviews.

Client Service and Support

  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of customer inquiries and service requests.
  • Work closely with Relationship Officers and branch teams to improve service delivery and revenue growth.

Business Development and Strategy

  • Develop Retail and SME business growth strategies and prepare performance reports for management.
  • Identify new market segments and contribute to initiatives that enhance market penetration.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure adherence to banking policies, procedures, and operational controls.
  • Monitor portfolio performance to ensure quality, profitability, and compliance with risk standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Banking & Finance, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in Retail and SME Banking or a similar client relationship role, with a proven track record in portfolio management.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong ability to assess client financial needs and recommend suitable banking products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven relationship-building, complaint resolution, and customer service capabilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple client portfolios.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
