Role Purpose
The key purpose of this role is to maintain plant and equipment in an “as-new” condition, ensuring reliable performance through inspections, corrective maintenance, and root-cause problem solving. The role also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and provides input into the Zero-Based Budget (ZBB) maintenance budget.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment
- Comply with all safety, health, and environmental procedures and legislation.
- Maintain high safety and housekeeping standards.
- Identify unsafe practices through Safety Improvement Observations (SIOs).
- Conduct safety inspections and audits of safe maintenance practices.
- Adhere strictly to PPE policies.
- Ensure maintenance tools are in safe and good working condition.
Plant Maintenance & Repairs
- Locate plant, equipment, spares, and relevant documentation or systems.
- Plan and prepare maintenance jobs effectively.
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
- Operate workshop and maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.
Teamwork
- Communicate effectively within maintenance and operations teams.
- Contribute to individual and team development initiatives.
Work Order Management
- Complete work orders accurately and on time.
- Manage backlog and generate tags for follow-on work.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by minimizing rework.
Operational Support
- Provide specialist technical support to shift-based teams during operations.
- Assist as a functional expert in fault finding and problem solving.
- Support Process Artisans with guidance on mechanical and electrical equipment and failure response.
Planned Maintenance
- Participate in maintenance planning meetings and provide technical input.
- Execute planned maintenance activities in line with issued schedules.
- Participate in maintenance post-mortems to share lessons learned and improvement opportunities.
Routine Maintenance
- Perform cleaning, lubrication, and inspections as per maintenance schedules.
- Execute routine maintenance tasks effectively.
- Apply appropriate problem-solving techniques to resolve issues identified during routine work.
Running Repairs
- Carry out running repairs on plant and equipment when requested.
- Support Shift Artisans during repair activities.
- Diagnose problems and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Complete all related administrative tasks in SAP as required.
Problem Solving
- Apply structured problem-solving methodologies to resolve equipment failures.
- Escalate issues to the Engineering Controller where required.
- Participate in Failure and Fault Analyses (FFAs).
- Support team members in resolving technical issues.
Continuous Improvement
- Improve Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and maintenance tasks.
- Ensure closure of improvement actions to prevent recurrence of issues.
Housekeeping & Safety
- Operate safely at all times and report unsafe conditions.
- Adhere to AB InBev policies and procedures.
- Apply 4S principles during execution of duties.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Diploma in one of the following fields:
- Electrical Engineering
- Electrical & Electronics Engineering
- Electrical & Automation Engineering
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a packaging or bottling production environment.
- 1–3 years of technical electrical and bottling experience in an FMCG environment.
