VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: OPEN PIT SUPERVISOR

Position: Open Pit Supervisor (2 Posts)

Location: Singida Gold Mine

Contract Type: Open-Ended

Roster: 6 Weeks On / 3 Weeks Off

Reporting To: Senior Open Pit Supervisor

ROLE PURPOSE

The Open Pit Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day load and haul operations to ensure activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the approved mining plan. This role coordinates equipment, personnel, and shift activities to support consistent production delivery, optimize equipment utilization, and achieve planned output in compliance with Company standards and regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety, Health & Environment

• Maintain strict adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and Tanzanian mining laws.

• Promote safe equipment operation, prevent machine abuse/unnecessary idling, and ensure immediate incident reporting.

Operations & Production Control

• Supervise the execution of daily shift plans to consistently meet production targets.

• Implement disciplined mining practices to minimize ore losses and dilution.

• Verify that all necessary tools and equipment are available and serviceable for the shift.

Equipment & Maintenance Coordination

• Monitor and manage equipment availability and utilization rates.

• Liaise with HME mechanics to coordinate scheduled servicing and manage breakdown maintenance.

• Ensure all equipment is operated strictly according to training protocols and standard operating procedures.

Team Leadership & Coordination

• Conduct pre-shift meetings, safety briefings, and comprehensive shift handovers.

• Oversee subordinate performance, leave management, and general team welfare.

• Collaborate effectively with Drill & Blasting, Dewatering, Survey, and Geotechnical teams.

Reporting & Accountability

• Monitor equipment performance against daily plans and provide recommendations for improvement.

• Report all damages to the Senior Open Pit Supervisor and maintain professional accountability.

• Execute any other lawful duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:

• Certificate of Secondary Education (O-Level).

• Valid Tanzanian Driving License.

Professional Experience:

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in open-pit mining operations.

• Proven competency in operating at least three (3) primary open-pit machines:

  • Excavator

  • Dozer (D10 / D10T)

  • Grader (16H / 16M)

  • Haul Trucks (CAT 777D, MT4400, CAT 785C)
