Vacancy Announcement: UG Electrician (03 Positions)

Location: Kahama District, Shinyanga (North-west Tanzania)

Reporting to: UG Electrical Foreman

Contract Type: Permanent

Role Purpose

The UG Electrician is responsible for ensuring that all electrical activities within the Engineering and Services department are planned and executed safely and cost-effectively. The goal is to achieve production targets while maintaining strict adherence to BGML Mining Safety Standards and Procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Operations

Installation & Repair: Install and maintain all electrical equipment to minimize unplanned downtime and optimize machine availability.
Overhauls: Perform electrical equipment overhauls in line with company policies.
Fault Finding: Attend to equipment breakdowns and conduct necessary troubleshooting and repairs.
Testing: Complete mandatory testing and safety checks on all specified electrical installations.

Safety & Compliance

Risk Management: Conduct hazard identifications and risk assessments before starting tasks.
PPE: Maintain and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
Incident Investigation: Assist in conducting investigations into accidents or near-misses.
Zero Harm: Ensure total adherence to Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.

Leadership & Coaching

Training: Provide on-the-job coaching and training to less experienced personnel under the direction of the supervisor.
Accountability: Act with integrity, communicate honestly, and take full responsibility for assigned tasks.

Qualification Requirements

Education: FTC Certificate or Trade Certificate in Electrical from a recognized institution.
Specialized Certification: High Voltage (HV) Certificate is mandatory.
Licensing: Valid Tanzanian Driving License (Class D & E); Class C is an added advantage.

Experience & Skills

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in industrial electrical roles.
Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in underground mining is highly preferred.
Safety Knowledge: Awareness of the Mine Health & Safety Act.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
