Key Responsibilities
Safety & Risk Management
-
Act as a safety leader and ensure compliance with all site and regulatory standards.
-
Maintain the TSF and water dams risk register; identify risks and implement corrective actions.
-
Perform routine field checks and quarterly inspections to ensure facility integrity.
-
Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Compliance & Technical Oversight
-
Ensure site compliance with Tanzanian regulatory requirements, GISTM, and Barrick Standards.
-
Lead the technical team in implementing TSF designs and design verification.
-
Schedule and participate in Dam Safety Inspections (DSI), Dam Safety Reviews (DSR), and Assurance Reviews.
-
Ensure facility water and depositional balances are calibrated and in place.
-
Verify that documents from the Engineer of Record (EoR) meet performance requirements for construction, operation, and closure.
Operations & Strategy
-
Manage the outsourced TSF operations contractor and construction contractors for expansions.

Liaise weekly with the EoR and AME Tailings Lead, and annually with the Accountable Executive.

Work with managers to develop and execute the Life-of-Mine (LOM) tailings strategy.

Collect, collate, and act on monitoring data from all facilities.
Reporting & Mentorship

Compile and report on KPIs (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Annual Stewardship documents).

Prepare construction progress reports and project timelines for stakeholders.

Offer development and training to the deputy RTFE and operational staff.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
-
Advanced Education: Master’s in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering is advantageous.
-
Knowledge: Deep understanding of the National and Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM).
Experience & Skills
-
Minimum 5 years of experience in managing, operating, or designing Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs).
-
Proven track record in TSF operations, construction, monitoring, and rehabilitation.
-
Hands-on experience with water management and geotechnical instrumentation.
-
Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
