Role Overview: Plant Manager (Lubricants)

The Plant Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Lubricants Manufacturing Plant. This includes overseeing people and equipment, ensuring adherence to Group and local HSE regulations, and optimizing production processes to meet sales demands while maximizing net income.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
HSE and Compliance

Ensure the safe running of the plant by adhering to Group and local regulations.

Lead the Emergency Response Plan for fires, spills, and medical emergencies.

Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and “Loss Control” tours.

Investigate incidents/hazards and ensure timely reporting and corrective actions.

Promote a visible management commitment to QHSE through active participation and resource allocation.
Production and Operations Management
-
Coordinate production plans with Supply Managers to ensure product availability and quality.

Optimize resources and delivery processes to meet inventory levels and service agreements.

Manage plant maintenance using the designated MX tool.
-
Oversee plant expansions, including design validation, execution, and commissioning.
Financial and Strategic Planning

Formulate strategic plans for plant development in coordination with Sales and Logistics.

Manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets; ensure timely commitment and liquidation of funds.

Focus on productivity and cost ratios to achieve the target Blending Fee of $45/T.

Prepare monthly KPI reporting and ensure targets are consistently met.
People and Leadership

Lead, motivate, and manage staff and contract manpower.

Identify training needs and evaluate staff performance on a periodic basis.

Maintain strong relationships with consultants, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and customers.
Candidate Profile
Education and Training
-
Degree: Graduate or Post-graduate in Chemistry, Engineering, or MBA.
-
Recommended Training: Advanced Computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint), Production & Supply Chain Management, and HSEQ Auditor courses.
Experience
-
Minimum 10–12 years in Lubricants or a similar industry within Plant Management or Operations.

Extensive experience with International Management Systems: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18000.

Proven track record in managing CAPEX/OPEX budgets and Project Management.
Technical Knowledge
-
Expert knowledge of lubricants, greases, and coolant products.

Deep understanding of lubricant manufacturing plant operations and production planning.
-
Working knowledge of Local Labor Laws and HSEQ management systems.
Key Skills
-
Leadership: Strong man-management skills with the ability to train and motivate teams.

Communication: Ability to negotiate with staff, suppliers, and contractors.

Analytical: High level of computer literacy and ability to distill technical data into KPIs.

Blending Fee: Maintain at $45/T (excluding depreciation).

Service Levels: Sustain high service levels while improving process productivity.

Safety: Maintain high HSE performance and 100% PPE compliance.

Quality: Meet ISO-9001 performance targets and design integrity standards.
