Role Overview: Junior Consultant (Tanzania)

Reports to: Senior Consultant / Team Lead
The Junior Consultant is an early-career professional role designed for a motivated individual with 3–4 years of experience. The position focuses on supporting the full lifecycle of consultancy assignments—from soliciting tenders and drafting proposals to project implementation, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Proposals

Actively solicit for tenders and support the development of technical consulting materials.

Assist in drafting winning proposals, tender documents, and professional reports.
Technical Support & Analysis
-
Support the design of data collection instruments, literature reviews, and stakeholder mapping.

Perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis and contribute to the interpretation of findings.

Carry out fieldwork, including interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and stakeholder consultations.
Project Delivery & Documentation

Draft high-quality, client-ready deliverables such as technical memos, reports, and PowerPoint presentations.

Produce and maintain project documentation, timelines, and regular status updates.

Assist in capacity-building sessions and presentations for clients and partners.
Stakeholder & Operational Management

Maintain operational-level relationships with government agencies, NGOs, and private-sector partners.

Ensure all work complies with the organization’s quality, ethical, and safeguarding standards.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
-
Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies, Statistics, or a related field. (A Master’s degree or Postgraduate diploma is a plus).

Experience: 3–4 years of professional experience in consulting, research, development organizations, or government agencies.

Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in Tanzania.
Technical Competencies

Analytical Skills: Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Software: Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills. Familiarity with data tools (Stata, SPSS, R, Python) or qualitative software (NVivo, Atlas.ti) is highly desirable.

Writing: Proven ability to produce clear, structured, and professional reports and briefs.

Language: Excellent English (written and spoken); Kiswahili proficiency is strongly preferred.
