Purpose of the Role

The System Administrator is responsible for the effective day-to-day operation, support, and security of MCL’s IT infrastructure. The role ensures that servers, systems, and network services operate reliably, securely, and efficiently to support business continuity and organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Infrastructure & System Configuration

Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, storage platforms, and network devices.
Manage software installations, system upgrades, and security updates.
Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls using Active Directory.

2. System Maintenance, Monitoring & Optimization

Monitor system performance, uptime, and resource utilization.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues promptly.
Apply operating system patches and configuration updates regularly.
Review system logs and performance metrics to identify risks and recommend improvements.

3. Network Administration & Cybersecurity

Administer firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless infrastructure.
Conduct routine security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Implement and manage security controls such as antivirus systems, intrusion detection, and firewalls.

4. Data Protection & Disaster Recovery

Design, implement, and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies.
Test data recovery procedures periodically to ensure business continuity and data integrity.

5. User Support, Documentation & Vendor Management

Provide technical support and guidance to end users.
Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Coordinate with vendors for system upgrades, maintenance, repairs, and software licensing.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Category	Requirement
Education	Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Experience	3–5 years experience in a System Administrator or similar role
Operating Systems	Windows Server, Linux, macOS
Virtualization	VMware, Hyper-V, or equivalent platforms
Cloud & Networking	Working knowledge of AWS or Azure; TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
