Role Overview

Northern Engineering Works Limited (NEWL) invites applications for the position of Human Resources Intern. This internship is designed for a student or recent graduate seeking hands-on exposure to practical HR operations and human capital management within a professional engineering environment.

The intern will work closely with the HR & Administration team and gain practical experience in recruitment, employee relations, documentation, and compliance with labor regulations.


Key Responsibilities

1. Recruitment & Staffing Support

  • Assist in posting job advertisements on approved platforms.
  • Screen applications and support interview scheduling and coordination.

2. Employee Onboarding

  • Support the orientation and induction of new employees.
  • Assist in preparing onboarding materials and documentation.

3. HR Records & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files.
  • Support the updating and filing of HR policies, contracts, and related documents.

4. HR Reporting & Administration

  • Assist in preparing HR reports, summaries, and presentations for management review.
  • Support general HR administrative tasks as assigned.

5. Training & Development

  • Assist in coordinating internal training sessions, workshops, and staff development activities.

6. Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Participate in planning initiatives that promote employee engagement and a positive workplace culture.

7. Policy & Compliance Exposure

  • Learn and apply HR policies in line with Tanzanian labor laws and company regulations.

Qualifications & Competencies

Academic Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Eligibility

  • Must be a citizen of Tanzania.

  • Good organizational and time-management abilities.
