Position Purpose

The Underground Shift Supervisor is responsible for coordinating daily underground mining activities. You will prioritize resources, machinery, and personnel to safely achieve the production targets set out in the mine plan.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all operations are conducted safely and in accordance with relevant Acts and Regulations. Promptly report safety issues and ensure every employee accepts responsibility for their own health and safety.

• Production Planning: Plan daily production levels and manage the daily control and supervision of mine working areas.

• Team Leadership: Conduct daily work planning and toolbox meetings. Organize crew rosters and provide guidance for day-to-day site operations.

• Staff Development: Oversee training for shift personnel (theory and practical), conduct performance appraisals, and mentor/motivate employees to reach their potential.

• Onboarding: Ensure new staff are appropriately inducted and that all personnel meet Tanzania and client requirements.

• Reporting: Submit written incident reports to the Project Manager immediately following any shift incidents.

• Liaison: Coordinate AUMS activities with other mining operations on-site to ensure seamless integration.

• Discipline: Uphold company policy regarding discipline and counsel personnel in conjunction with the Site Project Manager.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience: * Minimum of 10 years in Mechanized Hard Rock Underground Mining.

  • Minimum of 5 years in a Supervisory role within mechanized mining.

• Technical Knowledge: * Deep understanding of drilling and blasting techniques.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of mining equipment applications and productivities.

  • Ability to interpret mine plans and optimize production.

• Certifications & Skills:

  • Management or Leadership Development training.

  • Valid Tanzanian Driver’s License with excellent driving skills.

  • Valid Senior First Aid Certificate.

• Safety Acumen: Proven ability to identify potential hazards and minimize risks while adhering to statutory mining regulations.
