Core Applications Support
ICT – Dar es Salaam (Ilala)
Job Purpose
To support the Bank’s IT operations by managing core banking applications and associated databases. The role ensures smooth system operations, timely resolution of application-related issues, and effective coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders to support business continuity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Core Banking EOD / EOM / EOY Operations
- Perform Core Banking and Treasury End-of-Day (EOD), End-of-Month (EOM), and End-of-Year (EOY) processes.
- Maintain and update the daily EOD activity log, documenting all issues for review by the Systems Administrator.
- Generate and distribute daily and monthly system reports, including mandatory EOD reports.
2. System Management & Application Support
- Coordinate with application vendors for timely resolution of system issues, including vendor ticket management.
- Monitor application server health in collaboration with the Helpdesk team.
- Provide ongoing support for business and operational application systems.
- Ensure all system changes are properly documented, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) is completed and signed off, and change requests are logged in the Service Desk for approval.
- Prepare and submit monthly Service Desk change reports.
- Ensure all incidents are resolved within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and share daily Service Desk reports with the ICT team.
3. User Access Management (Applications / OS / Databases)
- Create, modify, review, disable, and delete user access across applications, operating systems, and databases.
- Coordinate with HR and relevant units to ensure timely deactivation of user access when no longer required.
- Maintain approved and properly completed user access request forms as custodian.
- Conduct monthly user access reviews and submit reports to the Systems Administrator.
- Act as custodian for all generic accounts and ensure proper documentation and controls.
4. Operations & Business Support
- Respond promptly to application-related queries from branches, departments, and units.
- Generate daily operational and business-critical application reports.
- Ensure all business-supporting applications are available and operational.
- Participate in application-related projects and project meetings.
5. IT Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify emerging IT and application risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Ensure timely resolution or escalation of application security issues to vendors or the Information Security Officer (ISO).
- Promote effective use of IT risk management tools and frameworks.
- Ensure proper application change management processes are followed.
- Document all application-related incidents in line with the Bank’s incident management framework.
- Drive remediation of audit and risk review findings and promote a strong risk-aware culture within ICT.
Skills, Knowledge & Competencies
- Hands-on experience with Core Banking Systems, preferably Finacle CBS v10.xxx.
- Strong knowledge and experience in database administration.
- Proficiency in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and Unix Shell Scripting.
- Experience in process automation and system reporting.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Academic & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Working Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in banking application support and IT support roles.
