Role Overview

CCBA Tanzania is seeking a Quality Controller to join the Manufacturing team in Dar es Salaam. The role reports directly to the Quality Assurance Technologist.

The primary purpose of this role is to execute general and specialist quality analyses, interpret results, identify and resolve quality-related problems, facilitate structured problem-solving, coach operational teams, and conduct quality audits to ensure product integrity and compliance.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Performing Analysis

Conduct relevant quality analyses as required
Review daily analysis schedules and complete assigned tests
Record results in Infinity systems (or Excel where applicable)
Perform trend analysis to identify deviations or potential risks

2. Interpreting Results

Review analysis results daily to identify quality concerns
Communicate findings with laboratory technicians, production teams, and management
Ensure identified problems have appropriate resolutions
Compile reports and present findings during feedback meetings

3. Problem Solving

Respond to out-of-control results, specific requests, or triggers
Apply appropriate problem-solving methodologies
Develop action plans and maintain gap lists
Engage specialist resources when necessary
Verify corrective actions and ensure problem resolution
Update manuals and work instructions to prevent recurrence

4. Problem-Solving Facilitation

Facilitate structured problem-solving sessions when required
Engage relevant stakeholders including QC, production, laboratory, and operations teams
Apply techniques such as FFA
Assign responsibilities and monitor action plans
Confirm implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions

5. Coaching & Capability Building

Identify training and coaching needs through audits and assessments
Conduct CAP assessments related to quality
Coach laboratory technicians and production teams on quality principles and analysis
Support ongoing quality culture development

6. Auditing

Review and manage quality audit schedules (monthly, quarterly, ad hoc)
Collect audit data from relevant departments
Complete audit reports and provide structured feedback
Present audit findings to the QC Manager and operational teams

7. Maintenance

Perform routine maintenance according to instrumentation schedules
Apply problem-solving techniques to diagnose equipment issues
Request specialist support where required
Verify maintenance effectiveness and equipment functionality

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree in:
- Food Science & Technology
- Laboratory Science
OR Diploma in:
- Laboratory Science
- Food Science
- Related technical field

Experience Requirements

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a food processing plant
Strong process knowledge, preferably within a bottling environment
Experience in a quality control environment is an added advantage
