Job Title:Application Support Analyst


Job Summary

The role is responsible for managing the implementation, maintenance, stability, and continuous enhancement of all application systems within the Bank. The position ensures that appropriate platform technologies are effectively integrated into business processes, supporting reliability, innovation, and operational efficiency.

The role also drives technology convergence, oversees delivery of application-related technology projects, and works closely with internal stakeholders and technology vendors to improve productivity and support revenue growth.


Key Responsibilities

1. System Stability and Resilience

  • Ensure continuous availability, reliability, and performance of all business applications in line with agreed service levels and business objectives.
  • Analyse application availability issues and identify cost-effective improvement solutions.
  • Define availability requirements for new applications and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Develop and maintain a forward-looking availability plan to meet current and future business needs.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on application availability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Reduce the frequency and duration of application-related incidents.
  • Identify availability shortfalls and drive corrective actions.
  • Coordinate regular availability review meetings with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Act as the focal point for changes affecting application availability.
  • Maintain awareness of technology best practices supporting high application availability.

2. Projects and UAT Support

  • Collaborate closely with the Change Management team on new projects initiated by business units, Government/TRA, and Group.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new applications and system enhancements, including sanity testing.
  • Configure and implement new products in the Core Banking System in response to business and market needs.
  • Participate in project meetings from initiation through implementation and closure.
  • Facilitate deployment of innovative application solutions that meet customer and business requirements.

3. Business Continuity Management and Disaster Recovery

  • Participate in Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Disaster Recovery (DR) activities for all critical systems.
  • Support and execute annual business continuity and disaster recovery testing.
  • Ensure timely resumption of business operations within agreed recovery time objectives.

4. Operational and Support Functions

  • Implement tariffs and pricing changes in systems as per approved business requests.
  • Support and manage internal and external audits related to application systems.
  • Resolve application incidents within agreed SLAs and provide timely user feedback.
  • Conduct daily server health checks and restart services where necessary.
  • Produce daily Online Banking, ATM, and maintenance transaction reports.
  • Ensure all branch batches are closed prior to End of Day (EOD) and End of Month (EOM) processing.
  • Execute EOD and EOM batch runs.
  • Support complex technical issues related to systems, databases, and automation tools, including data centre migrations.
  • Participate in system upgrades, migrations, configurations, and deployments from development to production environments.
  • Troubleshoot production issues raised by end users and provide sustainable solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere strictly to formal change control and release management procedures.
  • Demonstrate continuous interest in learning and adopting new technologies.

Qualifications and Competencies

Education

  • Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Physical, Mathematical, Computer, or Life Sciences, or equivalent IT-related qualification.

Experience

  • Experience working in a similar IT applications or banking technology environment is required.
