Hiring Senior Transmission Engineer – Head End Systems
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Transmission Engineer – Head End Systems, located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The role involves designing, maintaining, and optimising head-end transmission systems, ensuring seamless operation of satellite broadcasting services. Additional tasks include supervising the installation and testing of transmission equipment, collaborating with cross-functional teams for system enhancements, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
– Diagnose and resolve faults across DTH/DTT Headend systems and Satellite/Terrestrial uplink chains
– Support encoding, multiplexing, satellite uplink, reception, and distribution systems
– Manage end-to-end IP Multicast video transport and headend network infrastructure
– Oversee the complete RF network, including TVROs, satellite & terrestrial uplink systems
– Manage platform services, NOC operations, and monitoring systems
– Maintain high service availability during live broadcasts with structured troubleshooting
– Ensure seamless integration between broadcast systems and IT network infrastructure
Qualifications
– 5+ years of experience in Headend and Video Compression systems, including satellite communication
– Strong experience in DTH/DTT Headend platforms and compression systems
– Advanced knowledge of MPEG-2, MPEG-4, HEVC compression standards
– Strong IT and Networking background (enterprise-level understanding preferred)
– Hands-on experience in Cisco networking environments
– Expertise in IP routing, switching, multicast configuration (IGMP, PIM), VLANs and fibre networks
– Familiarity with broadcast IP routing and video distribution architectures
Strong knowledge of:
– Encoding, Multiplexing, Transcoding, Transport Stream preparation
– RF uplink chain, Modulators, HPAs, Satellite antennas
– STBs, Middleware, DVB standards
– CAS systems, OTT platforms, Streaming & IP video distribution
– Windows & Linux system administration experience
– Strong fault-finding methodology and structured troubleshooting skills
– Calm and decisive approach during live incidents
– Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline
