Senior Officer, Accounting & Finance

Position Overview

The Senior Officer, Accounting & Finance will primarily be responsible for assisting the Accounting & Finance Manager. Primary responsibilities include assisting in maintaining all aspects of the organization’s finances and accounting, reporting, and compliance with policies and guidelines. The position will have regular interactions with all staff.

Reporting Line: This position reports to the Accounting & Finance Manager.


Roles & Responsibilities

Financial Records & Accounting

  • Responsible for maintaining field office records accurately and properly.
  • Maintain books of accounts accurately and regularly for country and field offices.
  • Keep and update records of all accounts and transactions.

Payments & Staff Advances

  • Responsible for accurate payment and retirement of field staff travel advances.
  • All payments will be approved after a copy from Intacct is attached together with a compliance checklist. This copy will form the basis of approval.
  • Track and approve staff salary and travel advances.
  • Support the Finance Officer in day-to-day undertakings.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Conduct timely OFAC compliance checks as per Room to Read guidelines.
  • Submit all statutory compliance updates and complete e-filing.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting & Finance Officer (AFO) and Accounting & Finance Manager (AFM) in accomplishing statutory and internal audits.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Compile monthly cash forecasts as submitted by Program Managers for AFM review.
  • Support cash forecast management.
  • Act as a key contributor in the budget preparation process using Adaptive.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • ACCA or CPA qualification (mandatory).
  • Accounting and/or Finance degree from a recognized university/college.
  • Familiar with accounting packages.
  • 3 to 4 years’ experience in accounting and finance, preferably in an international NGO environment.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of accounting, reporting, and administration.
  • Detail-oriented and extremely organized.
  • Results-oriented with commitment to quality and efficiency.

  • Adept at using accounting software, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Willing and able to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Flexible attitude towards changing priorities and ability to multitask.
  • Takes initiative and is a team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
