Customs and Clearing Officer – CNS Group

Key Responsibilities
- Clearance Management: Oversee end-to-end customs clearance for imports and exports, ensuring timely processing of Oil & Gas equipment, machinery, and project materials.
- Documentation & Compliance: Prepare and submit required documents to the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA); verify HS codes, duty calculations, exemptions, and tax compliance.
- Coordination: Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, port authorities, and clearing agents to monitor cargo movement and resolve bottlenecks.
- Regulatory Liaison: Collaborate with regulatory bodies for permits and licenses; stay updated on Tanzanian customs regulations.
- Cost & Record Control: Maintain accurate transaction records and control costs related to duties, demurrage, and port charges.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Customs Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field.
- Experience: 3–5 years of customs clearing experience; experience in Oil & Gas or heavy industry preferred.
- Certifications: Professional Customs Clearing certification (TRA recognized) is an added advantage.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in TRA systems, specifically TANCIS
- Expertise in import/export documentation (Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List) and duty exemptions
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Soft Skills: High integrity, attention to detail, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to work under pressure
