Electrical Maintenance Technician – Job Description

Job Function
The primary function of this role is to carry out electrical maintenance and repair of cranes, UPS systems, weighbridges (WB), substations, and other electrical equipment. The position ensures that all systems operate according to the safety and reliability standards established by the business unit.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Installation and Maintenance
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using appropriate hand and power tools.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other electrical components.
- Repair electrical systems including alternators, starters, and DC circuits in heavy equipment.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, equipment, and components using test equipment and hand tools to identify breakdown causes and implement corrective measures.
- Analyze technical information and evaluate results to determine the most effective solution to operational problems.
Inspection and Safety Compliance
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, or repair needs.
- Inform supervisors about any potential equipment hazards or safety risks.
- Report and respond immediately to hazardous conditions or unsafe acts.
Testing and Measurement
- Use electrical testing devices such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools to:
- Test electrical systems
- Verify circuit continuity in wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE)
- Follow QHSE rules and regulations when performing operational and maintenance activities.
- Contribute to achieving company targets by maintaining safe and reliable equipment performance.
Continuous Improvement
- Provide innovative ideas for process improvements and waste elimination.
- Advise management if continued equipment operation could pose safety hazards.
Qualifications Required
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering
Experience and Skills Required
- 3–5 years of professional experience, preferably in Ports and Terminals operations.
- Strong knowledge of Siemens PLC and Simovert Drives systems with good troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical/electronic circuit diagrams and technical drawings.
- Detailed technical knowledge of:
- Critical electrical and electronic components
- Measuring instruments
- Maintenance, inspection, and testing procedures.
- Experience working with equipment from manufacturers such as:
- ZPMC
- Konecranes
- Liebherr (highly desirable).
