Position Summary

The role provides technical supervision, support, and coordination of Regional Internal Auditors, while also performing managerial responsibilities when delegated or in the absence of the Regional Audit Managers (RAMs).

The position will deliver independent, objective assurance and consulting services to enhance the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes across World Vision operations.

The role applies a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and improving organizational processes.


Major Responsibilities

1. Technical Execution

1.1 Audit Execution

  • Lead audit assignments as assigned by the Regional Audit Manager (RAM) from planning to completion according to the Annual Audit Plan.
  • Support large and complex audit engagements, potentially managing multiple assignments simultaneously.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Perform Risk-Based Integrated Audits (RBIAs) in accordance with professional auditing standards, including the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) and World Vision Global Assurance (GAA) guidelines.
  • Engage with senior management staff within National Offices (NOs) to understand:
    • Business operations
    • Organizational objectives
    • Core processes
    • Risk profiles
    • Internal controls
  • Ensure efficient audit execution by coordinating auditors and stakeholders at different levels.
  • Prepare audit kickoff, entry, and exit presentations and lead client engagement meetings.

1.2 Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent the Regional Audit Manager (RAM) in:
    • Senior Leadership meetings
    • Board / Advisory Council Audit Committee meetings

This may occur during routine or quarterly engagements as delegated.


1.3 Prior Audit Follow-Up

  • Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations agreed upon with management.
  • Validate evidence of implementation provided by management.
  • Ensure actions taken effectively and sustainably address identified risks.
  • Resolve outstanding issues related to audit findings.

2. Quality Assurance

Ensure compliance with:

  • Global Internal Audit (GIA) standards
  • IPPF professional standards
  • World Vision Global Assurance (GAA) quality standards
  • Ethical requirements and industry best practices

Key duties include:

  • Provide technical support and coaching to audit team members during planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases.
  • Prepare high-quality draft audit reports for supervisory review by the end of the fieldwork phase.
  • Ensure audit review notes are resolved promptly and effectively.
  • Apply GAA quality checklists throughout the audit process.
  • Ensure team members declare conflicts of interest when required.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives, including peer reviews and external assessments.

3. Professional Development

  • Maintain Continuing Professional Education (CPE) through online courses, seminars, and professional training.
  • Achieve a minimum of 40 CPE units annually, with a target of 10 CPE units per quarter.

4. Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide capacity building to management teams in assigned National Office portfolios on:
    • Risk-Based Internal Auditing (RBIA)
    • Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
  • Serve as an advisor on committees when delegated, including:
    • National Oversight Committee (NOC)
    • Enterprise Risk Management committees
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the internal audit function.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Audit, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional audit certifications such as:
    • ACCA
    • CPA
    • CIA
    • CISA
    • CFE
      (Completed or at an advanced stage of certification).
  • Ability to work effectively in new and changing environments, including evolving regulatory landscapes.
  • Experience working in remote or virtual environments.
  • Excellent:
    • Presentation skills
    • Analytical and research abilities
    • Interpersonal and communication skills
    • Time management skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge of internal audit industry practices and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Code of Ethics.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of audit experience in a recognized organization (public or private).
  • At least 2 years in a senior supervisory role.
  • Experience in accredited audit firms or NGOs is an added advantage.
  • Proven experience in:
    • Risk-Based Auditing
    • Advisory services
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and build credibility with business partners.
  • Experience working in cross-cultural and multi-faith environments.
  • Exposure to various accounting systems.

Education and Certification

  • University degree in:
    • Commerce
    • Accounting
    • Business Management
    • Finance
  • Must be a qualified CPA or ACCA with up-to-date membership status.
  • CIA certification (completed or in progress) is required.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of French is an added advantage.

Work Environment

  • The role requires up to 40% travel, both domestically and internationally.
  • Travel may include fragile or high-risk operational environments within the region.
  • The position involves working within a virtual, geographically dispersed, and multicultural team.
