Position Overview
The Senior Business Development Officer II (Portfolio Monitoring) will provide oversight and performance management for the Bank’s financed projects across the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors.
The role focuses on ensuring compliance with lending policies, conducting portfolio analysis, and preparing high-quality reports that support strategic decision-making. The officer will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to safeguard the Bank’s investments while maximizing developmental impact.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Portfolio Monitoring and Performance Review
- Conduct regular portfolio performance reviews and generate monitoring dashboards.
- Undertake field visits to assess financed projects and analyze value chains.
- Monitor project implementation and performance across the Bank’s lending portfolio.
Risk Analysis and Early Warning Monitoring
- Analyze performance trends, risks, and early warning signals.
- Prepare reports highlighting potential portfolio risks and performance challenges.
- Identify emerging risks and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
Project Monitoring and Evaluation
- Lead tracking, monitoring, and evaluation of financed project interventions.
- Ensure projects are implemented in line with the Bank’s strategic objectives and development finance mandate.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work closely with Credit, Risk, and Zonal Teams to:
- Address implementation challenges
- Resolve credit risk issues
- Improve project performance where underperformance is identified.
Reporting and Strategic Analysis
- Prepare quarterly and annual portfolio performance reports covering:
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) compliance
- Risk ratings
- Project status updates
- Provide insights that support strategic decision-making.
Project Structuring and Compliance
- Support due diligence processes for financed projects.
- Assist in project structuring and restructuring where necessary.
- Identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions to safeguard the portfolio.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
- Economics
- Business Administration
- Agricultural Economics
- Finance
- Accounting
- Banking
- Or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in:
- Portfolio monitoring
- Credit analysis
- Agricultural finance.
