Position Overview
The Business Development Officer will report to the Zonal Manager and will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities for the bank within the assigned zone.
The role focuses on growing the bank’s lending portfolio, maintaining portfolio quality, and supporting the implementation of zonal business strategies aligned with the bank’s development finance objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Business Development and Market Expansion
- Achieve annual new business disbursement targets in line with the approved annual budget.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the zone.
- Conduct structured market and sector analysis to identify potential clients and financing opportunities.
Credit Proposal Development
- Generate and submit bankable credit proposals based on market appraisals.
- Ensure credit submissions are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Evaluate credit proposals and assess client financing needs.
Portfolio Management
- Maintain portfolio quality within the Bank’s approved Non-Performing Loan (NPL) thresholds.
- Monitor performance of financed projects and client relationships.
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain relationships with:
- Clients
- Credit teams
- Monitoring and evaluation teams
- Other key business stakeholders.
Business Planning and Reporting
- Contribute to the preparation and execution of the zonal business plan and budget.
- Submit regular progress and performance reports to management.
Other Responsibilities
- Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
- Economics
- Finance
- Accounting
- Banking
- Business Administration
- Or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in areas where the Bank operates effectively, such as:
- Business development
- Credit analysis
- Banking or financial services.
- Ability to evaluate credit proposals and assess financing opportunities.
- Experience in interpreting financial statements.
- Strong ability to identify sales and business growth opportunities.
