CAMP MANAGER

Organization: Planet Lodges & Lair’s Collection
Location: Serengeti / Tarangire, Tanzania


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Oversee all daily operations of the camp.
  • Ensure all departments function efficiently and in coordination.
  • Maintain high hospitality and service standards.
  • Ensure smooth guest arrival, stay, and departure experiences.
  • Welcome and interact with guests to ensure satisfaction.
  • Handle guest requests, feedback, and complaints professionally.
  • Ensure personalized guest experiences.
  • Monitor service quality in accommodation, dining, and activities.
  • Supervise all camp staff and department heads.
  • Coordinate staff schedules and work assignments.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and briefings.
  • Ensure staff performance and discipline standards are maintained.
  • Support staff training and development.
  • Coordinate activities between departments, including housekeeping, kitchen, and guest services.
  • Monitor occupancy levels and operational readiness.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and supplies for operations.
  • Manage logistics related to guest activities and transport.
  • Monitor operational expenses and budgets.
  • Control operational costs while maintaining service quality.
  • Oversee purchasing and stock control.
  • Ensure proper financial reporting when required.
  • Ensure the safety and security of guests, staff, and camp property.
  • Enforce compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure emergency procedures are understood and followed.
  • Monitor environmental conservation practices.
  • Ensure all camp facilities are well maintained.
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance work.
  • Monitor equipment and infrastructure condition.
  • Ensure guest areas remain clean, functional, and attractive.
  • Monitor stock levels of food, beverages, and camp supplies.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams or suppliers.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources to minimize waste.
  • Prepare operational reports for management.
  • Monitor staff attendance and performance.
  • Ensure proper documentation of guest records and camp activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, or a related field.
  • Training in hospitality operations or lodge management is preferred.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in hospitality operations.
  • At least 4 years in a camp/lodge management role.
  • Experience working in remote safari camps or lodges is preferred.
