CAMP MANAGER
Organization: Planet Lodges & Lair’s Collection
Location: Serengeti / Tarangire, Tanzania
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Oversee all daily operations of the camp.
- Ensure all departments function efficiently and in coordination.
- Maintain high hospitality and service standards.
- Ensure smooth guest arrival, stay, and departure experiences.
- Welcome and interact with guests to ensure satisfaction.
- Handle guest requests, feedback, and complaints professionally.
- Ensure personalized guest experiences.
- Monitor service quality in accommodation, dining, and activities.
- Supervise all camp staff and department heads.
- Coordinate staff schedules and work assignments.
- Conduct regular team meetings and briefings.
- Ensure staff performance and discipline standards are maintained.
- Support staff training and development.
- Coordinate activities between departments, including housekeeping, kitchen, and guest services.
- Monitor occupancy levels and operational readiness.
- Ensure adequate staffing and supplies for operations.
- Manage logistics related to guest activities and transport.
- Monitor operational expenses and budgets.
- Control operational costs while maintaining service quality.
- Oversee purchasing and stock control.
- Ensure proper financial reporting when required.
- Ensure the safety and security of guests, staff, and camp property.
- Enforce compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure emergency procedures are understood and followed.
- Monitor environmental conservation practices.
- Ensure all camp facilities are well maintained.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance work.
- Monitor equipment and infrastructure condition.
- Ensure guest areas remain clean, functional, and attractive.
- Monitor stock levels of food, beverages, and camp supplies.
- Coordinate with procurement teams or suppliers.
- Ensure efficient use of resources to minimize waste.
- Prepare operational reports for management.
- Monitor staff attendance and performance.
- Ensure proper documentation of guest records and camp activities.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, or a related field.
- Training in hospitality operations or lodge management is preferred.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in hospitality operations.
- At least 4 years in a camp/lodge management role.
- Experience working in remote safari camps or lodges is preferred.
