Commercial Lead, Tanzania
Location: Arusha, Tanzania (with travel)
Reports to: CEO | Full-time


About the Role

We are seeking our first commercial team member in Tanzania to establish and grow our presence in this key East African tourism market. This foundational hire will own the complete sales cycle; from prospecting and closing subscriptions to ensuring successful onboarding and account health. This autonomous role is supported by our CEO and a proven commercial playbook from Kenya.


Responsibilities

  • Identify, prospect, and close tour operator subscriptions across Tanzania’s key tourism regions, managing the full cycle from outreach and discovery through negotiation and close.
  • Meet and exceed monthly and quarterly subscription targets, providing ongoing market intelligence on competitive dynamics and operator needs.
  • Onboard new clients, serve as their primary point of contact, and monitor account health to manage retention and reduce churn.
  • Recruit and onboard independent guides onto the platform, maintaining engagement and supply quality.
  • Build relationships across Tanzania’s tourism ecosystem: associations, tourism boards, and complementary partners and represent the company at industry events.
  • Relay product feedback from clients to the product team and contribute to localisation of sales materials.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years in a sales, business development, or commercial role with direct revenue responsibility.
  • Direct experience in the safari travel industry (operator, agency, travel-tech, or related).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a pipeline from prospecting through close.
  • B2B SaaS or subscription sales experience preferred.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili (written and spoken).
  • Comfortable with CRM tools and sales reporting.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within Tanzania and occasionally to Kenya.
  • Coachable and receptive to feedback.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Established network of Tanzanian tour operators or safari industry stakeholders.
  • Previous experience as an early commercial hire or in a startup environment.
  • Based in or deeply familiar with Arusha and the Northern Circuit.
