About the Organization

Restless Development is a non-profit organization operating in 21 regions across Tanzania.

The organization’s head office is located in Iringa (Wilolesi Street, P.O. Box 737), with additional offices in Dar es Salaam and Dodoma.

Since its establishment in 1993, Restless Development has been addressing socio-economic challenges by empowering young people to lead change within their communities.


The Opportunity

Restless Development Tanzania invites applications from qualified and experienced professionals to serve as Members of the Board of Directors.

Board Directors play a vital role in providing:

  • Strategic oversight
  • Governance and accountability
  • Advisory support

They contribute to strengthening leadership, ensuring sustainable organizational growth, and advancing impactful youth-led development initiatives across Tanzania.


Areas of Expertise Required

We are seeking individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

1. Governance & Compliance

  • Provide oversight on governance and regulatory compliance
  • Review policies, contracts, and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs)
  • Ensure adherence to Tanzanian laws and donor requirements
  • Oversee legal risk management

2. Finance & Audit

  • Oversee budgets, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Guide audit planning and review findings
  • Monitor implementation of audit recommendations
  • Advise on financial risk management and sustainability
  • CPA qualification is an added advantage

3. Strategy, Quality & Learning

  • Provide input on program design and implementation
  • Strengthen monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL)
  • Support quality assurance and program effectiveness
  • Advise on safeguarding and risk management

4. Fundraising & Sustainability

  • Support fundraising strategies and donor engagement
  • Identify new funding opportunities (donors, foundations, corporate partners)
  • Provide guidance on proposal development
  • Promote long-term sustainability planning

5. Private Sector Engagement

  • Build strategic partnerships with businesses and industry networks
  • Support shared-value initiatives (CSR, youth employment, entrepreneurship)
  • Provide market insights to enhance economic empowerment programs

6. Digital Transformation

  • Guide the use of digital tools for program delivery and operations
  • Advise on digital strategy, innovation, and data governance
  • Promote cybersecurity awareness
  • Strengthen digital engagement for youth and communication

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a Tanzanian citizen aged 18 years and above
  • Strong experience in youth development or related fields
  • Women and young people (under 35 years) are strongly encouraged to apply
