Position Details
- Job Title: Risk & Compliance Officer
- Reports To: Senior Compliance Officer
- Administrative Reporting Line: Regional Manager
Job Purpose
The role is responsible for establishing, implementing, and enforcing a robust Compliance Risk Management Framework across the Bank.
This includes ensuring adherence to:
- Legal and regulatory requirements
- Banking and Financial Institutions Act
- Bank of Tanzania (BOT) regulations
- Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws and guidelines
The role also ensures that the institution is not used for money laundering or terrorism financing, while safeguarding the integrity of the Bank.
Key Responsibilities
1. Compliance Monitoring (40%)
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policies at regional business centers
- Implement Compliance Monitoring Plans
- Monitor and report violations of policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Conduct staff training on compliance, AML, and KYC requirements
- Provide monthly reports on compliance breaches
- Advise management on compliance status with regulators (BOT, FIU, TRA, etc.)
- Identify and report operational non-compliance issues
2. Risk Management (40%)
- Analyze branch reports to detect anomalies and potential fraud
- Report and monitor fraudulent activities and recovery processes
- Support risk identification and maintenance of risk registers
- Monitor and report risk incidents within the region
3. Physical Security & Health (10%)
- Test internal risk and compliance controls, including security systems
- Act as focal point for physical security and workplace safety
- Conduct assessments to identify security and health gaps
- Support awareness initiatives on safety and security
4. Training & Communication (10%)
- Conduct training on compliance, AML, risk, and safety matters
- Communicate compliance updates and issues to business center management
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Law
- Business Management
- Banking
- Or related field
- Experience in banking or financial institutions
- Knowledge of enterprise risk management
- Understanding of money laundering risks and financial system impacts
- Familiarity with compliance systems and tools
