Position Details
- Job Title: People & Culture Officer (Talent Acquisition & Retention)
- Location: Arusha, Tanzania
- Reports To: Senior People & Culture Officer
Job Purpose
This role is essential in strengthening recruitment governance, ensuring compliance with labor laws and organizational policies, and standardizing hiring processes.
It aims to:
- Improve talent acquisition quality
- Enhance employee retention
- Support workforce planning
- Reduce risks from unprocedural recruitment practices
The position also supports leadership by managing day-to-day recruitment and retention operations, allowing strategic focus at senior levels.
Key Responsibilities
1. Recruitment (40%)
- Manage and coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes
- Ensure timely job profiling, advertisement, and closure of vacancies
- Implement fair, non-discriminatory hiring practices aligned with safeguarding policies
- Update and design recruitment procedures in collaboration with leadership
- Coordinate job postings and manage application processes
- Plan and schedule interviews with hiring managers
2. Onboarding (30%)
- Coordinate onboarding for new employees ensuring full compliance with procedures
- Facilitate medical examinations through OSHA
- Prepare and share onboarding documentation
- Manage staff ID processing and induction programs
- Ensure completion of onboarding processes
3. Promotion Management (30%)
- Implement promotion frameworks aligned with organizational policies
- Coordinate annual promotion planning with management
- Ensure promotions are fair, merit-based, and budget-compliant
- Oversee promotion assessments (performance reviews, interviews, evaluations)
- Maintain accurate promotion records and documentation
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in HR-related roles
- Experience in recruitment, onboarding, and performance management
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to conduct training and performance discussions
- High level of integrity, reliability, and accountability
- Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented
- Strong planning and coordination skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
