Key Responsibilities
- Attend and actively participate in safety and toolbox meetings
- Assist in tender development and pricing of works
- Support Rail Lead in project delivery when required
- Conduct advanced protection relay analysis using secondary injection testing
- Perform circuit continuity and loop impedance checks
- Inspect protection systems and ancillary equipment in detail
- Carry out insulation resistance testing in line with standards
- Execute switching operations on high-voltage networks
- Perform relay self-tests and communication checks on digital relays
- Analyze current transformers (CTs) and voltage transformers (VTs)
- Conduct trip and alarm circuit functionality testing
- Perform primary injection tests for relay stability and fault detection
- Analyze fault events and disturbance records
- Conduct FATs & SATs on protection relays (GE, Siemens, ABB, SEL, Alstom, Schneider)
- Develop and update single-line diagrams and protection drawings
- Improve operational efficiency and system performance
- Maintain strong customer service and stakeholder relationships
Qualification Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Trade Certificate with relevant experience
Technical Expertise Required:
- HV/LV electric motors, transformers, and STATCOMs
- HV/LV switching and control systems
- Cable jointing and terminations
- High/Low voltage systems and switchgear with protection systems
- Standby generators and power systems
- Reading electrical schematics and single-line diagrams
- Electrical maintenance, fault finding, and troubleshooting
Additional Technical Skills:
- Installation, calibration, and maintenance of:
- Instrumentation
- HMI, PLC, SCADA systems
- CAF plants, batch plants, paste plants, and power generation systems
- Minearc systems maintenance and inspections
- High voltage switching certification
- Instrumentation, RCT teleremote, and Minearc experience (advantageous)
- Knowledge of Tanzanian electrical regulations and Australian standards
- Proficiency in: Microsoft Office, Excel, Pronto/SAP, AutoSketch/AutoCAD
Experience & Competencies
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar High Voltage Electrician role
- Valid Tanzanian driving license
- Knowledge of Mine Health & Safety regulations
- Experience in underground and/or surface mining environments
- Strong conceptual thinking and analytical ability
