Position Overview
The Barrick North Mara Team is seeking to recruit a Cable Bolter Trainer to join and grow within our team.
This role focuses on training and developing local talent in cable bolting operations while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards in an underground mining environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Train local employees to high competency levels in cable bolter operations
- Promote and uphold a strong safety culture in line with “Journey to Zero” principles
- Drill ground support holes, install cables, and grout according to specifications
- Ensure drilling accuracy (avoid over-drilling and under-drilling) in line with plans and geotechnical requirements
- Follow mark-ups based on geological, statutory, and survey specifications
- Collaborate with technical and supervisory teams on safety and quality initiatives
- Maintain accurate end-of-shift reports
- Conduct pre-operation and in-operation equipment inspections
- Report equipment defects and abnormalities promptly
- Operate cable bolting equipment in accordance with SOPs to meet daily targets
- Maintain high housekeeping standards for equipment and work areas
Qualification Requirements
- Secondary or tertiary education
- Valid driving license
- Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering (added advantage)
Experience & Competencies
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating a cable bolter in underground mining
- Strong underground drilling knowledge and skills
- Experience operating Sandvik or Atlas Copco cable bolters (advantageous)
- Ability to read and interpret cable bolt layouts
- Strong understanding of ground support standards
- Sound knowledge of underground mining operations and practices
- Familiarity with Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations in mining
